Bio of Thomas Jones Jr. Thomas Jones Jr. has successfully made the transition from Basketball, shooting Jumpers, and making moves in the paint, to making moves in the world of music. With influences such as Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, and Rev. James Payton, he is bound to make his mark in more ways than one. Thomas began playing the Bass Guitar at the young age of 8, and by the age of 12, he had assembled a 12 piece band. At an early age, he found such a love for music, that he picked up every instrument that he could get his hands on. In doing so, he became fluent in Lead Guitar, Bass Guitar, Electric keyboards, Acoustic Guitar, as well as Drums and Percussions. The amazing part is that Thomas is self-taught. Having been born into a musical family, with his father being a Jazz singer, and an Aunt who was also an entertainer, it was only a matter of time before he would find that desire to follow their path. Thomas’ talent goes beyond what he is capable of doing with his music. He was once sought after as a Basketball player, who received scholarship offers from many major colleges and universities including Georgia Tech, University of Tennessee, Morris Brown College, and Morehouse College. Whenever he was not on the basketball court, he was hanging out with fellow musicians, such as the late “GRP Great Jazz Recording Artist, George Howard, and Larry Blackmon from the R&B group “Cameo.” Although Thomas had the desire to pursue music, he became an NBA prospect, but a knee injury bought the future of his basketball career to a screeching halt. It was then when his passion for music evolved. Thomas is not only a great performer he also Composes, Produces, and Writes all of his own original material. He takes pride in doing so. So if you ask him to play covers, you will get a complete silence. Thomas started his own label (“Above Records”) in 2007, in order to help other struggling artist to achieve their dream in the music industry. Thomas knowing that there are so many talented individuals that are striving in the industry, but very few have the total package. Thomas is a well-rounded in his musical abilities, with his soulful qualities, and ingenuity. When he plays his guitar, he has the gift of bringing his artistic melody to an unbridled melodic expression. His first CD entitled “You’re The One For Me” in 2005 received rave reviews across the country. When he is not performing, or in his recording studio, creating a new track, he can be found teaching Guitar lessons, exercising. His music enthralls a distinctive sound with expressive creativity in every note. You can feel the musical spirituality deep in your soul.
